Pain Management

One of the most common uses of acupuncture is in the management of pain. At Avellana we treat everything from chronic back pain and migraine to arthritic and musculo-skeletal problems.

Acupuncture is effective in relieving acute and chronic pain.  Where there is wear and tear causing chronic pain and stiffness such as arthritis, acupuncture can be used to manage the pain and reduce the need for painkillers.

“I had tried so many different therapies over the years and could not believe the difference acupuncture has made to my pain.  I hardly ever feel anything in my back and am able to enjoy life more.  Thank you so much for helping me.”

Some of the common complaints we see in the clinic include:

• Back pain

• Sciatica

• Neck and Shoulder pain

• Frozen shoulder

• Tennis elbow

• Arthritis

• Knee pain

• Post-operative recovery

• Repetitive strain injury

Noeleen has worked in pain clinics in two hospitals in London where it has been successfully incorporated into the NHS. She has also worked in a physiotherapy clinic for a number of years and says that:

“Both the research and clinical observations are very positive in the effectiveness of acupuncture in managing pain.  Acupuncture can be used in those initial stages of an injury to reduce the inflammation and ease pain. The physiotherapists noticed a great improvement in their clients’ results when Traditional Chinese Acupuncture was used.”
