Noeleen’s gift is for taking a 3,500-year-old system of medicine and making its deep wisdom speak to today’s world. During her 5 year full-time degree course, Noeleen had the opportunity to work in the pain clinic and labour clinic at Whittington Hospital where acupuncture was provided to patients under the National Health Service (NHS) in England. Noeleen also spent 6 months working in two of the largest Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) hospitals in Beijing where she gained vast experience working with an extensive range of conditions.
Before relocating to Donegal and establishing Avellana in Letterkenny, Noeleen worked in a physiotherapy clinic in Galway for 4 years.
“It was great to have the opportunity to be based in such as busy physiotherapy clinic. Even the physiotherapists were surprised at times by the results the clients had when Traditional Chinese acupuncture was incorporated into their treatment plan.”
Noeleen says, “For the past 14 years I have worked closely with western medicine and believe a combination of approaches helps our patients the most. Throughout our lives we will all experience times of great change; physical, hormonal and emotional. How we adapt may shape us for years to come. My role is to support my clients through this process and to address the root of their issues. After all, we can’t change what life presents us with, but we can change how we respond and adapt”.
